It is a very exclusive grape from vines that were planted at the beginning of the 20th century, after phylloxera wiped out all the Arribes vineyards. It is a very special grape, as it is only found in this wine region and there is not much information about its origin. It has a short vegetative cycle and not excessive vigour, with a semi-upright habit. Rapid maturation, with risk of raisin.

It is a grape with a notable richness in sugars, but balanced. It has a high content of polyphenols, with rather sweet tannins. This variety has certain morphological characteristics, small berries and clusters, as well as oenological characteristics, a high polyphenol index, which are causing great interest in it on the part of winegrowers.

It is a grape that allows full-bodied wines to be obtained, it has good alcoholic strength and balanced acidity, with thick but not vegetal tannins.

Juan García is a Spanish red variety from the Arribes del Duero area.  It is a pre-phylloxera legacy that, like others, has managed to survive, thanks to its special conditions of adaptation to the terrain and climate of the warmest terraced areas on the slopes of the rivers, but above all, due to its high productivity, and its resistance to diseases. like powdery mildew, or mildew.  The clusters of this variety are characterized by being very compact and heavy, the pedicels are rather short, the berries are large, elliptical, with a bluish-black epidermis, with uncolored pulp and with seeds. The wines do not have a high alcohol content, nor do they have high acidity, they have a bright purple-red color, but their main characteristic lies in their complex and elegant aromatic range, with fruity fragrances of berries and very ripe fleshy fruits, with striking spicy touches. , which produce, as a final result, a balanced wine that is especially gifted for ageing.

This strain is probably the most widespread in Spain. Its name tells us that it is an early ripening grape, therefore it makes us think of a northern origin, and of high and colder areas, where the vegetative cycle must be accelerated. Variety with good yields, good polyphenolic load and, normally, with low acidity. It provides us with wines with a high potential for barrel ageing. The wines made with this variety are pleasant, intense in fruit aromas, full-bodied, soft in acidity and silky and elegant tannins.

It is a type of rustic grape and very resistant to drought. It produces red wines with a lot of color, with wonderful fruit expression, good body and structure, although it is a grape that is difficult to maintain its color with a notable tendency to oxidation. It has nuances and traits of sweetness. The wines of this variety provide us with friendly wines, without much color, good acidity, elegant nuances of red fruit, very sweet and with sweet tannins.

MALVASÍA

Also known as Malvasía Toresana or Malvasía Castellana. In addition to Galicia, Toro or Arribes del Duero, it is grown in Portugal. It is the most austere of all the Malvasías, with less aromatic potential and greater acidity.  The Malvasía variety is a diverse grape, which adapts quite well to different types of climate. The yield per hectare of the vines is very small, which is why their cultivation is not excessively widespread. In general, the vines are very old, from traditional cultivation, which adds additional cost and work.  

It provides wines of medium intensity, with a high concentration of sugar and acidity, a good palate and a long aftertaste. They are fresh, light wines, with floral and seed fruit aromas. Citrus memories that intensify with cold maceration.

PUESTA EN CRUZ

La Puesta en Cruz or Rabigato is a grape of Portuguese origin with large, dense clusters and the grapes are small, uniform with thin, yellowish-green skin. It is a very juicy grape with high natural acidity. It produces quality lemon-yellow wines with good aging potential.  The aroma of these wines is of medium intensity, mellifluous, with a touch of orange blossom, with components somewhat of plant origin. Palate well balanced, fresh, with good fruitiness.
